The Trouble with Tuck

The trouble with tuck is written by Theodore Taylor.  The Trouble with Tuck is a great book about a girl and her dog.  Her dog goes blind when it is only four and the girl tried  to do every thing she could do to help her dog.  She did do everything and anything for that dog but nothing worked.  This is a suspenseful story of a dog, a girl, friendship and trust.  A wonderful saga of what people do for friends.

Brians Winter

Brian's winter is written by Gary Paulson. This book is a companyon book to hatchet. Fans kept saying well what if Brian wasn't rescued before winter. So this book talks about what might have happend if he wasn't rescued. Brian is improving. He learned to make stone arow heads, Kill big game and do many other things.  The thing I really like is it doesn't talk all about the devors and stuff.

Winnie the horse gentler: Book 1 wild thing/Book 2 Eager Star

Wild thing is written by Dandi Mackall.  This book is about a 12 year old girl who loves horses and who finds one Arabian that takes her heart.  She is willing to do anything to have that horse.  This book also talks about having a good relationship with god so if you do not believe in god this is probably not the book for you. This is a great book that talks about horses hard work and many other things.

The second book Eager Star is about Winnie the girl trying to get a reputation.  People are paying her to train there horses but its still not quite there yet.  In the book Winnie learns a lot about paying moor attention to all the steps (not just to getting a reputation but to everything) and only paying attention to the finish line.

The Wanderer

The Wanderer is written by Sharon Creech.  The book is about a girl that is an orfan and is going to visit her new Grandpa or Bompie for the first time.  She went with three of her uncles and two of her cosins.  To get to Bombie they had to sail across the ocean from America to England.  The cool thing is that she is writing down what they do and then in the next chapter it would be her cosin writing.  The confusing part is that somtime they say inthe sailer talk you tred this through that and through this... and it gets a little confusing.  Not the greatest book to read to little kids because somtimes it's boring.

MISS HICKORY

Miss Hickory is written by Carolyn Sherwin Baily.  This book is great!  It has wonderful pictures in black orange and white.  Fitting perfectly with the description.  Miss Hickory is a toy who is left behind.  She has to rely on great friend like wise crow to help her until she finds her happy place.  She has lots of friends other than crow and they all helped her at one time or another and they helped her get to a wonderful place.  That just shows how much friendship can do.

FALLING DOWN THE PAGE

This book is edited by Georgia Heard.  The book is a book of list poems.  All relating to school.  They are all fun to read but a little hard to read because the binding is at the top then you flip it up and over.  The poems are amazing and written by different people. It taught me a lot about how to write list poems even though it did not tell me how to write them.

Hatchet

Hatchet is written by Gary Paulsen.  This book is about a kid who is going to visit his dad and the plane he is in crashes.  The pilot is dead.  The plane is where he cannot get to the survival pack.  He must survive until rescue comes with only the hatchet his mother gave him.  It could take weeks for rescue to come for him.  He must have a place to live fire and food to survive and to do this he has his hatchet himself and his surroundings.  This book is absolutely the best boy book ever.

A Long Way from Chicago / A Year Down Yonder

A Long Way from Chicago is written by Richard Peck.  Two kids go to their grandmas house every year.  Their Grandma is anything but usual.  The first year at her house they see a corps!  There is a lot more than that they visit grandma seven times.  I don't think I could last.  Grandma is larger than life and just as intertaning I hope you like the book.

A Year Down Yonder is written by Richard Peck.  Mary Alice one of the kids now has to brave a entire year with grandma.  Never try to predict what happens around grandma, and guess what happens when a storm blows in.

Here Lies the Librarian

This book is written by Richard Peck. The book is about a lot of things.  Early cars, auto manics, racing, bullies,  making a woman out of a girl.  I liked learning about cars.  And the suspense of whats going to happen next.  The ideas in the book are very interesting to.

The Helen Keller Story

The Helen Keller Story is written by PID Scott Neely.  I say the book is a really great book. It has lots of detail.  It shows how Helen over came being blind and deft.  It is very long and precise.  Helen is a very stubborn woman.  To her impossible means do it.  When Anne Sullivan and Helen first met Helen did not know much but once she understood the concept of word she was thirsty for knowledge.  It is a very good book.

Sideways Stories from Wayside School

Sideways Stories from Wayside School is written by Louis Sachar.  So before I tell you about the book I must tell you something.  The kids at Wayside say you are the weirdest kids ever.  The Wayside school  was supposed to be built with thirty classrooms all in a row but there was a terrible mistake. It was built thirty stories high with one classroom on each floor.  The kids at the school are just as funny as the school itself.  I bet you go or went to a school  but I bet you did not go to school with a kid who can only read upside down.  You will meet Mrs. Gorf, the meanest teacher to be eaten. You will meet Mrs. Jewls the teacher they now have.  You will not meet Miss Zarves and you will get to know all the other students in Mrs. Jewls' class.  You will know these people, but you will never guess what happens with Sammy the new kid or what happens to the school on Halloween.

The Unfinished Angel

The Unfinished Angel is written by Sharon Creech. The main charactor is a confused angel that says, " People are strange." The idea of the story is the angel is trying to find a purpose.  The onomatopoeia in the story is funny at parts. Plus I really like the angel friend Zola.

Call it Courage: interveiwed with J.W

The author of Call it Courage is Armstrong Speery. The main character is Mafuta. The main idea is he is trying to make people think he is brave.  J.W likes it when the boy escapes from his home island, and when cannibals the people who eat other people are coming and he speedily swims away.

Walk Two Moons/Apsolutely Normal Chaos

Both books are written by Sharon Creech. And Sharon Creech she likes to kill people in almost all of her books.  You want to read these two books one right after the other, because one helps you understand the other.  One thing about the books is they have dating in them.  I really don't like that.  The description is very  nice.  And in Absolutely Normal Chaos it gives a book review of another book.  Wow!  They are both really nice but I have to say otherwise about the dating.

Little House in the Big Woods

Little House in the  Big Woods is a great book written by Laura Ingals Wilder.  It tells you a lot about the way pioneers lived.  When you take your time with the book it tells you a lot more than you think.  First of all some books about pioneers are not written by pioneers.  This book is written by a pioneer so I say a book written by a pioneer tells you more about pioneers than one that is not.

The main characters in this book are Laura, Mary,Ma, and Pa. This book has very good characterization you get close to the characters and you understand  the way that Laura is feeling.

The Madeline series

The Madeline series is a children series written by LUDWIG BEMELMANS. I like the sereize but,  I only have four books in the series. These books are for younger kids.  The books are written in poem form. They were a great enjoyment to me when I was a littler kid. They were also some of the first books I read all by myself.  They are some perfect books for begining readers.

Zombiekins: Interview with J.W.

This book is written by KEVEN BOLGER.  It's about a stuffed animal that is no ordinary stuffed animal.  It's a ZOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMBIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The animal is also turning everyone to zombies.  J.W. likes the book because it has a lots of details it has well written conversation and zombies.  He said it was a great book.

Fancy NANCY series

This book is written by Jane O'Connor.  The series is about a girl who always wants to be the most fancy.  She uses lots of fancy words that the book or a person in the book tells you the meaning of,  which can only help with vocabulary.  They also have a sense of humor in them which makes the books even better.  The books are short and more interesting for smaller kids.

FOLLOW MY LEADER

Follow My Leader is written by James B. Garfield.  The book is about a boy that goes blind and how he conquers being blind.  The reason he became blind is a firecracker went off in his face.  The next thing he knew he was in the hospital.

In the book you actually learn a secret language for the blind.  Yes he does get a dog.  He was waiting for the dog to get back to cub scouts, and at the end of the book the dog does a very cool, interesting, different,  and exiting thing.

Charlotte's Web

The book is written by E.B WHITE (Author of STUART LITTLE).  The book talks about friendship. Wilbur has a lot of friends.  He is always nice, humble, and silly at times. Charlotte is a great friend who always thinks of others before herself.  Templeton is a nasty rat who collects lots of JUNK. I say Wilbur is a little babied  by Fern at the beginning of the story getting taken around in a baby-carriage but, because of all the other great stuff the book talks about I say it is a pretty good book.

The Homecoming

The Homecoming's author is Harold Pinter. Sorry to Harold Pinter but I didn't like the book very much. It's about dinosaurs that have come back to Earth after leaving in space ships.  The U.S.A sent a man to meet with them.(I forget the man's name.)  The confusing thing is the dinosaur/aliens have their names.  Then after you become their friends they give you another name and it is really confusing unless you go very super slow.  I say it wasn't the very best book I ever read.

Love That Dog

Love That Dog is a very good book written by Sharen Creech.  It's a book about a boy named Jack who says "Boys don't write poetry. Girls do."  Throughout the whole story the boy is responding to his teacher in the form of poetry.  Since the teacher is teaching her students about poetry it teaches you a lot about it to. I learned how to write poetry wile reading this book.

At first Jack had a little trouble writing poetry until he found something to write about his dog  Sky.  Then he started to write write write.  A lot of the poems Miss. Stretchberry (Jack's teacher) read Jack did not like, like Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening and The Pasture. But there were some that Jack really liked such as Love that boy by Walter Dean Myers. Love That Dog is a really great book!!!
